Wow! I loved this piece. I don’t have ADHD, but I also struggle with dopamine-related mental health issues — I just found out that I’m genetically predisposed to wonky dopamine pathways. Plus, I deal with brain stuff as a side effect from long-term chronic illness, digestive issues (the second brain), etc. Isn’t it crazy the systems we put in place that help us work with our neurodivergent-ness?
If you do decide to look into medication, I recommend checking out LDN. It’s the only med I take right now and it’s helped me a lot in the mental health department.
